Inspired by a Grade 4 student, ‘Shrub Club’ in Smith School has been quite successful. The 10 members of Shrub Club applied to be a member of the club, adopted their own plants and shrubs, and take care of them on a weekly basis. They water them and learned how to transplant them. At the end of the year, they plan on donating them to local businesses and planting them in the community.

We were sad to discover that many of our badminton racquets are aging. Many of them are losing their grip! Grip tape, that is. They have become hard wooden handles bristling with splinters. Did we throw them out and order new ones?No way! We simply bought some new grip tape and will wrap the handles. Good as new, and a lot cheaper, too. SMCS - Shalalth

To celebrate Earth Day 2014, our entire school went to the beach at Anderson Lake and cleaned up the trash. We found flip flops, socks, a shirt, used diaper (ew!), broken surf board, some invasive weeds, beer cans, lost toys, and even some rusty barbed wire. SMCS - Shalalth
